Prayer is an important part of our weekly meetings and daily lives. Here are a few prayers that we feel embody the spirit of our mission…
In addition, the Sons of Thunder share a special Marian Devotion. Each Tuesday, the members of the Sons of Thunder say a rosary – in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Act of Consecration to St. Joseph
“O dearest St. Joseph,
We consecrate ourselves to your honor and give ourselves to you,
that you may always be our father, our protector
and our guide in the way of salvation.
Obtain for us a greater purity of heart
and fervent love of the interior life.
After your example may we do all our actions
for the greater glory of God,
in union with the Divine Heart of Jesus
and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
O Blessed St. Joseph, pray for us,
that we may share in the peace and joy of your holy death. Amen.”
St. Michael Prayer
“Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.”
Prayer for Our Members
“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God,
Strengthen us, Your Sons of Thunder.
Strengthen us when our courage falters
and when the weight of our responsibilities feels heavy.
Strengthen us in the quiet battles no one sees,
in temptation, in depression, in anxiety.
Grant us the grace of boldness,
not in anger or noise,
but in steadfast virtue,
in the courageous witness of men who refuse to abandon You.
Guard us from the seductions of the enemy camp,
from the desire of false successes,
from the pride that isolates
and the shame that silences.
Unite us as brothers,
that we may lift one another when we fall,
encourage one another when we grow weary,
and stand shoulder to shoulder in the crucible of life.
Lord, make us faithful in prayer,
constant in sacrifice,
generous in service,
and humble in victory.
And when our efforts fail,
be our strength.
When our vision dims,
be our light.
When our hearts tremble,
be our peace.
Christ our King,
form us, forge us and lead us
that in all things we may go forth in
